This cru varies substantially from east to west.
In the west are very steep, high granite hills.
In the east, ancient alluvial soils with pebble deposits give rise to gentler slopes.
Soil from granite is found in almost equal amounts as soil from ancient piedmont deposits.

The soils composed of granite produce generous, structured and silky wines.
